In 2008, attorney Ramzi Khazen joined McKool Smith as an associate, and five years later, he advanced to his current role as a principal at the Dallas, Texas based law firm. He handles commercial and intellectual property litigation, and has worked significantly within the information technology and medical device industries. Ramzi Khazen possesses license to represent clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
He previously served as an associate at Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, also located in Austin. In this role, Mr. Khazen led successful high-stake patent defenses on behalf of clients before the International Trade Commission. He also helped to analyze and optimize patent portfolios for various corporations and assisted with trademark litigation.
A member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society, Ramzi Khazen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He continued his education at UT-Austin (UT-Austin), receiving a doctor of law in 2003. While completing his law school coursework, he contributed to the university’s Intellectual Property Law Journal and served as secretary of the Austin Intellectual Property Law Society.
